Welcome to the first of our periodic newsletters, designed to provide helpful and relevant information for you, your staff and your clients who are using Alisar Charting. As we kick off this newsletter, we invite your feedback and input - this truly is a work in process!

What's New?!
===========
We are delighted to announce the release of Version 1.3 - Monday March 24. This release is primarily a maintenance update - that means users won't see too many changes in the application. The only new feature users will notice is called the "Rollback" feature.
The "Rollback" feature allows users to return to their previous chart if an error occurs during one of the following functions - Complete Chart, Delete Chart/Action Step, Restore or changing Security.
Users may choose to run "Rollback" as soon as the error occurs or it can be run at a later time from the Administration menu. This option is available to all User roles (Chart User, Managers and Administrators).
We also fixed a pesky error that was causing extra pages to print, when printing "Print Charts from this Chart Down".
Finally, a reminder for our off-line users - please synchronize your charts to update your off-line version to 1.3. Contact the Alisar HelpDesk with questions: http://www.alisarcharting.com/helpdesk.nsf or call 902-857-1813.
Feature of the Month - E-mail Notifications: ===========================================
* This is a handy and little-known feature that keeps Action Steps that are coming due, "in your face", by sending you an e-mail. This reminder system can be customized for each user.
How do I set up e-mail reminders?
--------------------------------
- Log into Alisar Charting.
- Select the Administration tab.
- Select your name from the list of users.
- Your Participant Document will open.
- Make sure your e-mail address is correctly entered in the e-mail field.
- Set Enable Notification to "On."
- Enter the number of days, "before start an Action Step" and/or "before an Action Step is due," that you want to get a reminder e-mail.
- Select "Save" to save your changes.
* Did you know that users can change their own e-mail address, screen resolution, password and e-mail notifications from their Participant Document?
Timely Tips:
===========
Don't use Internet Explorer "Back" button
within Alisar Charting
--------------------
A couple of our users have reported data lost in their charts. On further exploration with our HelpDesk, we found that the Internet Explorer 'Back' button was being used to navigate between chart levels, in lieu of the 'Senior' button on the Alisar Charting Icon Bar.
While using the Internet Explorer Back button is how people generally navigate in IE, it is not so for Alisar. Alisar Charting functions similarly to your on-line banking function. To maintain security and data integrity, you need to use the built in navigation.
We are presently exploring the possibility of using "Back". Stay tuned for more information.
E-mail a Chart to Request a Chart Review

Gary Ralston, of Ralston Consulting (http://www.ralstonconsulting.com/), suggests his students at Village Academy, e-mail a chart to him when they request a chart review. It is a fast way for students to notify Gary that they want his feedback and for Gary, an efficient way to assess the progress of the student projects.
Alisar Charting In Action:

Jeff Arnold and Lynn Harris are building their company, harrisarnold consulting, using Alisar Charting. Lynn and Jeff are relationship consultants and help people create the relationships that they want...
In a recent conversation with Jeff we discussed the value of Alisar Charting. Jeff said, "We are doing things we've never done before as we build this business and Alisar Charting is a great way for us to really discipline our thinking. You have to think through the goals, sequence and accountability for each action step. Once you've created your action steps, Alisar's e-mail reminder keeps the actions in front of you. Charting is a great way both to track progress and to make the course adjustments needed to get to your goal.
By revisiting our charts, we realized we had a gap in our thinking. Our marketing was primarily by referral. We were being referred, but we were not getting calls from the potential client. We realized that we had to create a low-risk way for potential clients to find out about us. After all, relationship issues are quite personal. So we created our website with a very specific goal in mind; to find out how Lynn and I work, what our clients say and what our philosophy is."
