Alisar Charting Version 2 released to ALL current users tomorrow!
========================================== Release date: Monday, August 4, 2003 We are delighted to announce the release of Alisar Charting, Version 2 on Tuesday morning, August 5, 2003. - How the new release affects you - New Features - Known Issues - Next Steps - How to contact us HOW THE NEW RELEASE AFFECTS YOU ======== - Licensed users are automatically upgraded. - Log in on Tuesday morning and you should see the new version. - If you are an off-line user, you will need to synchronize your charts. This will bring down the new version for your off-line use. NEW FEATURES ======== Many of these features were direct requests from you, the user, to make Alisar Charting a faster, more powerful tool for accomplishing your goals. We wish to thank those of you who participated in our Beta Testing - Alisar Charting is stronger for it! Welcome Tutorial ------------ We've created a Welcome Tutorial that opens on login. You can: - take a Quick Overview of key features, - Browse an Example Chart, or - Proceed to My Charts to access your information. You can disable the Welcome Tutorial with the provided checkbox, and reactivate it via your participant record. E-mail Look up ------------ You can now use a pull-down menu to look up e-mail addresses of Alisar Charting licensed and unlicensed participants. New Professional Printouts and Word Documents ------------ Manage and communicate more effectively with new, professional layouts for printed and MS Word output. You can also now 'Print from this chart down' in MS Word. Quickly Complete Actions from the To-Do List ------------ The To-Do list is a handy way to review your charts and actions that are due. Now it is a fast and convenient way to complete charts, too. Search Memory ------------ The To-Do list and Search remember your last results. - Search for a group of charts, using the To-Do function. - Click into a chart to view the information. - Click 'Home' on the Alisar Charting Icon Bar and you are back at your To-Do list. Batch Complete Multiple Action Steps ------------ You can now complete a number of Action Steps at the same time from within a chart document. - Select the charts that you want to mark as complete using the Complete checkboxes. - click the new Complete Icon on the Alisar Charting Icon Bar. The Sort function now lives under the Option Icon. Improved Online Help ------------ Clicking Help while in a chart now maintains your place in the chart document. The Help area will load in a new window allowing you to easily navigate through the help section and then easily return to the chart you were working in. Enhanced Interface for Chart Security ------------ Chart Read/Author security has a new look and function that makes it easier to manage who can read and author charts. Projector-Friendly Display for Better Meetings ------------ The large font size in the ER/CR (End Result/Current Reality) view will make this area much more useable in group charting sessions. When you click on a View icon (small magnifying glass) you display a large and editable field. This is great when you are working with a team of people on a shared screen. Create New Users on-the-fly ------------ Administrators now have the ability to create new users from within a chart. Select Add User from the Owner pull down list. Diagnostic Mode ------------ By default and for your security, Alisar Support personnel have no way to see your charts. However, in some support instances, our staff cannot troubleshoot effectively without access. Diagnostic Mode allows Administrators to grant or revoke access to Chart documents to Alisar Charting Support staff on a case-by-case basis. While in Diagnostic Mode, Alisar Support staff can view chart documents for the purpose of troubleshooting. If a database is not in Diagnostic Mode, Alisar Support staff can only view the list of licensed and non-licensed participants. Only Administrators will find this option in the side menu of the Administration Area. If your Alisar Charting is already in Diagnostic Mode, the option will read "Disable Diagnostic Mode." If the your Alisar Charting is NOT in Diagnostic Mode, the option will read "Enable Diagnostic Mode." We recommend that this option only be used in cooperation with a member of the Alisar support team, and that the Administrator disable diagnostic mode as soon as possible. KNOWN ISSUES: ========== We have one issue that we discovered late in the release process. It is cosmetic, and poses no risk to your data. We have scheduled to fix the issue in a maintenance release. Symptom: ------------ Email Assignments - Why do I have a blank window after sending an email assignment message? Explanation: ------------ This problem occurs if an Action Step Due Date is after the Due Date of a Chart. When a user sends an Email Assignment, the Chart is saved. If any Action Steps have a due date that is later then the Chart due date, a warning message pops up. However, the email window opens in front of the warning message. The user finishes their email and clicks send. The email is sent but the email window does not close. Workaround: ------------ To close the window: 1. Click on the background Chart window. You will see the warning message pop-up. 2. Click OK on the pop-up box. The warning message will close and the email window will come into focus. (If multiple Action Steps have later Due Dates, you will have to repeat this step until all of the warning messages have been dismissed.) 3. Click the close "X" at the top right corner of the email (blank) window. NEXT STEPS ========== Thank you for your ongoing interest in Alisar Charting.
